I’m new to blogging and I doubt that I will be very good at it. . . But I’d like to give it a try! The title of my blog says a lot about my intentions for this blog. I have always been a bookworm even as a child, we lived in the country and would travel half an hour each way into the city at least once a week, these long rides were frequently spent reading, my parents gave us a book every year for our birthday, a tradition that continues today. As a child I remember my mom reading aloud to myself and my siblings “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “The Little House” series, “The Swiss Family Robinson”, and “The Yearling”. Once I learned to read, I read classics like “Black Beauty” and “Winnie The Pooh”, among others and as I grew older I became a devoted fan of “The Hardy Boys”. In high school I read “The Iliad”, “The Oddysey”, “Plato’s Republic”, and “How Should We Then Live” by Francis Schaeffer.
Dr. David Noble founder of Summit Ministries in Manitou Spings, CO is fond of saying “If you want to be a leader then you have to be a reader.” One of the leaders that I admire is President George W Bush, according to an article written by Karl Rove and published in the Wallstreet Journal on December 26, 2008; President Bush is himself a voracious reader, who read 95 books in 2006. Since I am the Spiritual Leader of my family, I aspire to Dr Noble’s exhortation!
